Tell us about yourself
I live in Lake St. Louis, about a mile from CFT. I have a dog named Gertrude. I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend, family and friends!
What made you start CrossFit?
The place I was working out at was closing, and one of my neighbors mentioned CrossFit Trenches. It was close by so I thought I would give it a try. The varied workouts and great people is what has kept me coming back.
What were your thoughts after your first workout at CFT?
I had been working out doing other things for awhile prior to my first workout, so I was very surprised by how challenging it was to my body. The people were very welcoming from day one.
What impact has CrossFit had in your life in and outside the gym?
It has made me realize I am stronger than I think I am….and just because I can’t do something today, doesn’t mean that I won’t ever be able to do it.
If you had to write a WOD, what would it be?
Running (even though I hate it 🙂 ), cleans, sledgehammer strikes and slam balls.
What’s your diet like?
I try to eat Paleo most of the time. I have strayed from that a bit, but am trying to get back since I feel better and have more energy when I do.
How does nutrition play a role in your life?
I know nutrition helps with a lot of different aspects of life, so I try to keep that in mind as I make food choices.
What advice would you give to a new CrossFitter?
Stick with it and you will become addicted. It’s OK to scale it, everyone is different, and as long as you push yourself and have a good workout, you will be successful.
What’s your favorite motivational quote and why?
“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. Do the thing you think you cannot do.” I like it because it’s applicable in so many aspects of my life. At the end of the day, I realize I am capable of so much more than I think if I don’t let fear stop me and I just try.
