John Berra: CF-L1, CF-L2

When I was younger, I was very active.  I started wrestling and playing football when I was 7 and started lifting weights at age 12.  I continued playing football and wrestled all through high school.  After that, I competed in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu until my mid twenties.
Then life hit.  I got married and had two boys of my own.  I knew that I had gained weight, but it wasn’t until my oldest son saw me with my shirt off and called me fat, that I realized how bad it had gotten.  I had put on 50lbs and was incredibly out of shape.  It was at that point that I knew that I needed to make a change, not only for my own health, but for my family too.  I had been interested in CrossFit, and had passed CrossFit Trenches a million times, so I decided to stop in and try it out.  This was the best decision that I have ever made.  I am 33 years old and am in the best shape of my life.
CrossFit is truly for everyone.  Not every person can do a pull-up or climb a rope right now, but with the right attitude and hard work, they will be able to eventually. Nothing beats hard work!  CrossFit is like a family and everybody wants everybody to succeed.
